Our Story
From Crete to Finland, with roots that run deep.
2Roots is born from four generations of olive oil tradition in Crete and a shared vision to bring premium, cold-pressed olive oil to Northern Europe.
The Meaning Behind 2roots
Nestled in the heart of the Apokoronas region in Chania, Crete, our journey with olive oil spans four generations. For over a century, our family, along with other dedicated farmers, has nurtured Koroneiki olive trees, a variety renowned for its exceptional quality and rich, fruity flavor.
But 2roots is more than just tradition—it's about friendship, passion, and a shared vision that bridges Crete and Finland.
Having lived in Helsinki for over a decade, we—two brothers from Crete—often found ourselves introducing Finnish friends to the superior quality of Cretan olive oil, a staple of our culture. Among them was a close Finnish friend, a firefighter with a deep love for Crete, who quickly developed an appreciation for its traditions, flavors, and way of life.
Through countless conversations, we realized a shared passion: bringing authentic, organic Koroneiki olive oil to Northern Europe, where purity and quality are truly valued. This sparked an idea—why not create a company that connects our two homelands through something we deeply care about?
And so, 2roots was born.
With our combined backgrounds in business and past entrepreneurial ventures, we turned our vision into reality, establishing 2roots under the Finnish business system. One root in Crete, where our olive oil is cultivated with care and tradition; one root in Finland, where appreciation for high-quality, organic products is strong.
At 2roots, every bottle of our olive oil is more than just a product—it is a tribute to tradition, quality, and respect for the environment. Our logo, depicting a woman beneath an olive tree, is a nod to Athena, the goddess who, according to Greek mythology, gifted the olive tree to humanity as a symbol of prosperity and connection. Just as her gift took root and flourished, 2roots bridges Crete and Finland, bringing tradition, quality, and heritage to every bottle.

Captured in the heart of the olive fields in the Apokoronas region of Crete, our founders, George and Jere, oversee the 2024 harvest, spanning from October to January 2025, ensuring that every olive is handpicked with care and respect for tradition.
